Christmas Decorations - Your Family & Home

Decorating your home for the holiday season really helps bring the Christmas spirit to your family; it doesn’t need to be a huge display the cost a lot of money and time to set up, even just simple decorations can do the trick.

These days there are many sources for inexpensive decorations both online and off. Sites like Walmart have a larger selection of Christmas decorations online than in the store. Online sites like Christmas Dazzle and Christmas Depot have a very large selection of unique decorations at good prices.

    Christmas Family Fun

We turn decorating the home into a family affair, everyone participates, we tell the kids that its time to get the house ready for Santa and they are very happy to pitch in and do their part. Turn it into a family day of fun instead of making it a work day, and do not worry if what the children do aren’t up to your standards let them contribute. Each year my daughter is big on making her own decorations and hanging them up all over the house, it is her way of spreading Christmas cheer. Personalized Christmas ornaments can also add a nice touch to any tree.

    Christmas Party Decorations

Christmas decorations for a party can add a unique flavor to the party and you can even theme the party to a specific theme and it will be the talk for your guests. Unique decorations that you rarely see can be great conversation starters and be very interesting to your guests.

    Remember the Safety

Every year I see people who leave their Christmas lights on 24/7; this is a risky thing to do. There is a fire risk with lights not to mention the cost of power. It is impossible to know if the manufacturer did a quality job with the product, don’t take the chance if you are going to be away from home for over an hour turn your lights off. When you go to bed turn your lights off, the longer they are left on the more heat build up there is and the greater the risk of fire.

Also pay attention to the manufacturer specs on how many stings of lights you can plug in to each other and string together. If you exceed number the manufacturer specifies, you are leaving yourself and your family at great risk. The wire is only rated to carry a certain amount of current through it, if you string too many together it has a very good chance of burning up. Curtains and dry trees are another thing you need to be concerned about, don’t have lights on anything that can easily combust. I know a lot of this seems like the same old preaching, but it’s important and every year I see news reports of Christmas decorations causing a fire.

Regardless of what you decide when decorating your home for Christmas, we hope you have a lot of fun and have a safe and happy holiday.
